The Fabulous Life of Minnie the Sassy Chick: The Egg-Straordinary Egg by Cindy L. Shirley was a fun read. Two young sisters find a rather distinctive egg. They decide to care for it until it hatches. They each take turns babysitting the egg in their own unique ways. Much to their surprise, the egg decides to hatch!
I chose to read The Fabulous Life of Minnie the Sassy Chick: The Egg-Straordinary Egg with my six-year-old daughter simply because the bird on the cover looked like a flamingo. She is obsessed with flamingos and enjoys any story that has a bird in it, especially a pink one. Shirley did not disappoint her! My daughter liked the story very much and was asking what would happen next at the end. She also now wants an egg of her own to hatch.
My thoughts on the story are that I thought it was cute. The two sisters have totally opposite styles. My daughter identified with them both; Carly because she wore glasses and Riley because she liked eating donuts. However, I did have to explain to my daughter that it is better not to touch an egg if she happens to find one in a nest. I loved the artwork in the book. The illustrations are very cute and colorful, and were what first caught my eye. I can see many Sassy Chick stories in the future. My daughter and I enjoyed this story. We cannot wait to see what kind of adventures Minnie will have next. I look forward to reading more of this series.
