In The Foster House by C. Smith, Valerie Evans was killed in the house by her fiancé, Warren Williams. Samantha Foster feared that her father might be influenced by Valerie’s spirit and contacted Ava for assistance via email. During a phone conversation with Ava, Sam's father spoke incoherently about a girl, prompting Ava to drive to Arkansas to help Sam. Upon her arrival, Ava sensed a powerful presence in the house and realized she needed additional help. Ava called her best friend and secret crush, Austin, to assist her with the investigation. Sam's father was not the first man of The Foster House to be troubled by Valerie's spirit, and the moment Austin arrived, his life was in danger. Ava, Sam, and Austin collaborate to uncover the truth surrounding Valerie’s murder.

The Foster House by C. Smith was a thrilling ride filled with paranormal elements, mystery, and murder. The author's captivating writing style kept me engaged from the very first page to the last. I found it impossible to set the book aside and flipped through the pages as quickly as possible. Valerie was certainly not a pleasant spirit, and the confrontations between her and the characters were nerve-wracking. I learned more about Valerie as Ava, Sam, and Austin discovered additional details about her. The characters felt genuine and relatable. It was evident from the outset that Ava and Austin had deeper feelings for one another than they were willing to express. It is a remarkable story that will linger in my memory for quite some time. I eagerly anticipate the next book to follow Ava and Austin on their continued adventures.
