The Giraffe That Will Make You Laugh by Mamma Macs revolves around the story of Cuthburt, the giraffe who is a clown in the circus. Cuthburt does not look like the usual clowns one sees in the circus, but his antics make the crowds laugh and he is very popular. He is a helpful fellow to all his friends, irrespective of whether it is the ringmaster, the lion or the man who breathes fire. Cuthburt the clown giraffe is always ready to help the people around him. This wonderful story takes young readers through Cuthburt's daily routine and, written in rhyming verses, it makes an interesting read. Kids are going to love Cuthburt and his everyday life at the circus.
I liked the story because it is not only educational, but has an exciting concept for kids. The giraffe's daily routine at the circus not only tells kids more details about the circus, but also teaches kids about rhyming words. The illustrations are wonderful and eye-catching and they give movement and life to the story and characters. Cuthburt comes alive under the painter's brush and the idea of highlighting the rhyming words is indeed useful for young readers to comprehend quickly. It makes a good bedtime story and parents and grandparents can read it out to their kids and grandkids. It can be used in read aloud sessions in classrooms and libraries too as it helps children grow creatively and educationally.
