Nick is an up-and-coming lawyer with more than one important case to crack. He has two defendants that the public at large would love to see sit in jail for the rest of their lives. The Good Lawyer by Thomas Benigno is the story of a criminal defense attorney who believes in the innocence of his clients, one of the most dangerous things that could ever happen to a defense attorney. It just may happen, however, that one or both of his clients might be innocent after all. Both are charged with sexual assault, one with rape and the other with child sexual assault. Nick is certain that he will be able to get both of them off on their charges and he might, but there’s more to both stories than meets the eye.
Reading this book was definitely great for me. Nick is a character one can easy relate to. He has a great way of looking at people and believing the best in them, even when they aren’t necessarily the best of people. I found myself drawn into the mystery and the intrigue. I couldn’t help but be impressed by the realism of this story and how much I really felt like I was part of the case. I felt as though I was experiencing everything that had happened to Nick and his family. I enjoyed the way the defendants seemed to develop (the ones that could, anyway) and also the way that Nick really changed and was able to create a relationship with the people he cared about. I loved The Good Lawyer by Thomas Benigno.
