The Seaside Sleuths and the Croft Beach Lighthouse Mystery is a fabulous mystery adventure book for children that continues Joy Michelle Austin’s Seaside Sleuths series. The story takes us to Croft Beach, where eight-year-old Sam Wentworth, with his father, step-aunt, and siblings, moved a year earlier. Taking photos with his new camera, Sam notices flickering light in the old lighthouse. Built in 1901, the lighthouse guided fishing boats for over sixty years before it was abandoned upon the advent of new technology. Nobody has used the lighthouse for decades, and it was supposed to be locked. But Sam notices a pulsing light, like a secret signal. So, Sam and his Seaside Sleuths Club friends decide to figure out the lighthouse’s mystery. But will they succeed?
What a wonderful, fun, and educational story! The Seaside Sleuths and the Croft Beach Lighthouse Mystery enchanted me instantly with mystery, adventure, an easy-to-read writing style, a heartwarming family and school atmosphere, an abundance of likable characters, and a lot of educational moments. I appreciated how Joy Michelle Austin designed this praiseworthy book with Sam, his family, and friends as perfect role models. The show-and-tell activity at school impressed me greatly. Aunt Caroline’s Giant Cinnamon Rolls recipe and discussion questions made this book particularly special. I highly recommend this heartwarming story to young readers and adults alike. Parents and child carers will discover a treasure trove of wisdom for guiding children on the right path to being brave, kind, compassionate, curious, patient, seeking truth, and solving problems.
