The Halloween Parade (Monstacademy) by Matt Beighton is an awesome book about a young girl named Trixie Grimble. When her school shuts down, Trixie is sent to Monroe's Academy for the different, known as Monstacademy, which is a school for monsters. Except Trixie Grimble is a normal person, which makes life at Monstacademy hard. Some teachers don't like her and she struggles to make friends. However, she is told to help make the banner for the Halloween parade, where she becomes friends with a vampire and a werepoodle. They begin to suspect fellow classmate, Heston, is up to something. Will Trixie and her friends be able to stop him?
I really, really enjoyed reading The Halloween Parade (Monstacademy) by Matt Beighton. This book is written in an engaging way. It will have readers hooked from the very first page and keep their attention until the last. There were many funny parts throughout the story that will have the reader laughing out loud. The book was very exciting and fun to read. I really liked that there were activity pages at the end. The characters are very likeable and realistic. The author puts a creative twist on classic monsters, including a vegetarian vampire! The occasional pictures throughout the text are very well drawn and are a really nice touch. The story really gets you excited for Halloween, but could be read at any time of the year. The plot is intriguing and interesting. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone, especially Halloween fans.
