The Hidden Reality (Alex Pella) by Stephen Martino is a gripping thriller. The world is in the grip of the New Reality, the controlling power that rules over all since a plague swept the world, killing more than a billion people and bringing governments to their knees. Alex Pella is an inventor and a brilliant doctor who finds himself caught up in a power struggle between the one who rules and the one who would. Alex is determined to bring down the New World Order, but his journey to do so reveals more than he ever dreamed. Alex is about to find out the truth about himself, about his genetic heritage, truths that he perhaps would have been better off not knowing. A message from a man who has been dead a long time puts Alex on the path to defeating an ancient enemy, a 2500-year-old enemy that has long since been forgotten. Can Alex bring about the destruction of the New World Order before it’s too late?
The Hidden Reality (Alex Pella) by Stephen Martino is an enthralling read. Set a little in the future, the story is an action-packed thriller with plenty of twists and turns along the way. It is a fast paced story, but the way it is written ensures that you know exactly what is going on, when and with whom. This is the second in a series but I felt, not having read book 1, that this one could easily stand alone. There was enough background to help me understand the story, and the character development left me knowing exactly who I was reading about. This is something of a unique story, a combination of the ancient worlds and the future – an odd combination but it truly worked. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good action story with a touch of science fiction thrown in for good measure, or anyone that just wants a rollicking good read.
