The Inside Scoop on God, by Deborah Ann Erdmann, is a Christian devotional with a few humorous stories to accompany the scripture-based messages. Erdmann starts off with an introduction that sets the pace for the devotional; she knows her husband, a real relationship - not just things she has heard, she actually knows him. If she can get to know her husband that way, can she get to know God that way? What follows this personal introduction is a series of daily devotions that are backed by scripture and personal experiences. Erdmann applies deeper level thinking that goes beyond the typical study topics or devotions; the most studious Christians will find themselves expanding their thinking.

Two things stood out to me immediately. First, Deborah Ann Erdmann makes a personal connection with what she is saying, so there is an immediate sense of teaching or sharing, rather than being talked at. Second, the devotions are scripture-based, everything you read is founded on scripture and not just the author’s thoughts or opinions. I was impressed by The Inside Scoop on God; it was whimsical and anointed - it got me smiling and it got me thinking! I enjoyed the quotes from scripture, and the famous historical quotes, as well as comic-like images that began each chapter or devotion. Erdmann has done an excellent job of creating a unique and much-needed devotional after what is clearly years of study and preparation. Nice work!

The Inside Scoop on God, is written from the perspective of a Christian who has long sought God on her own terms, not settling for the confines of any one particular religion. I love the description on the back cover of the book which states, "An ordinary housewife spent several years stalking God like the paparazzi." To my great delight, Debby's search for God has culminated in not only a deep and abiding faith in the author's soul, but also a terrific book that will inspire and challenge you to spend some time stalking God for yourself!

This book is a great devotional. It is a down-to-earth devotional with each day built around a personal story of the author used to teach the reader more about a relationship with God. When she confronts a wrong view of God she will use scripture to make the correction. Great book. I found I learned some new things and I would highly recommend it.
