In The Keeper's Code by Barb DeLong, investigative journalist Skye Parker is convinced that her mother’s death was not a suicide. Skye believes that her mother was murdered by someone using magic to stop her from investigating the paranormal. Skye began to follow Ash Hunter, who had been linked to several paranormal events in the area. Skye wanted to determine whether Ash was a paranormal being or just investigating paranormal activities. To save a cyclist’s life, Ash publicly used his magic and was given the task of ensuring Skye does not uncover the hidden witch society. Additionally, Ash worked as a private investigator, and Skye enlisted his help to look into her mother’s death. It does not take long before Skye becomes the next target for the killer. Ash struggles to keep her safe, as Skye is wary of him.
