The Keepers Files 1.5: A Holding Kate Series Book by LaDonna Cole follows multiple story lines as they relate to a group of teenagers who are part of Heartwork Village, a compound that specializes in time and space travel called “Jumps”. These teenagers are part of smaller groups that travel to specific locations in hopes of learning to face and overcome a personal issue. The personal issues include co-dependency, anger issues, and lack of socialization skills. These jumps were originally supposed to last two weeks to two months, but an issue developed that caused one group to be off the earth for over two centuries. With other teams having fatalities on missions, someone in the Inner Circle must be behind the issues. The Keepers must attempt to gain information essential to their existence while at the same time navigating their own inner demons. This book is a seamless integration of Quantum Physics, teenage turmoil, suspense, and interpersonal relationships.

Initially I was disconcerted by The Keepers Files 1.5: A Holding Kate Series Book as it jumps between times, locations, and situations. At first I thought it was snippets from multiple books, but LaDonna Cole was setting up the story line. I really enjoyed the way that this book takes place over the course of hundreds of years. The stories, emotions, and flashbacks that encapsulate the entire scope of these experiences really connected me to the characters and increased my enjoyment of the book. A unique aspect that I was not only surprised but very happy to see was that one of the main characters is poly amorous.
