Father David thought he was officially retired. He hadn't received a job as a soul redeemer in forty years, and only checked his post office box as a once-weekly foray out of his apartment. Imagine his surprise one day to find a package with one last assignment - one that only he can fulfill because all of the other soul redeemers have been murdered. Strange things are afoot, and he's called from his comfortable life in Oklahoma to a military base in Nevada to investigate a truly unbelievable experiment, one that seems to be working until the chief scientist disappears. Soon, Father David finds himself on a team with three software engineers of various backgrounds to stop the very forces of hell from breaking through to earth. The Last Redeemer, by K.B. Retlaw, is a Christian sci-fi thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page, and make you question the very world around you.

I enjoyed The Last Redeemer. The characters are exceptional and a great mix: Thorn is a doubter, Pam and Windsong are people of tremendous faith, and Cortez is a man of mixed beliefs and strong faith. They make a great team working together, and are even better when Father David comes along to guide them on their final journey to a heroic end that saves life as we know it, even if most people don't realize how close we were to the precipice of hell on earth. The plot is fascinating and fast paced, and will make you ponder the strength of your faith, and the reality around you. How do some people get so successful with seemingly little effort, while others struggle to get by? K.B. Retlaw gives you one potential answer in this exciting, thrilling book that will confirm the love of Christ and the dangers of hell to all. An excellent read!
