The Library of Wonder by Lizy J. Campbell is a charming and endearing middle-grade fantasy about a lonely girl named Emma, who discovers an abandoned library and finds herself pulled, quite literally, into the pages of a book. Beginning as a mysterious adventure, it evolves into a heroic journey through magical worlds filled with talking animals, cursed pirate ships, secret forests, and clever puzzles. Emma must solve cryptic clues and unravel hidden truths to uncover long-buried memories and understand her connection to the library—if she hopes to return to her world. Each storybook realm holds a lesson, and with every challenge she faces, Emma learns more about bravery, trust, and the power of remembering who she truly is.

The cover initially drew me to The Library of Wonder—it just screamed magic to me. I was also intrigued by the title and description, wondering if it might be similar to the Magic Treehouse series. While there may be some familiar elements, this story stands apart with its unique tone and depth, and will quickly captivate readers who enjoy time travel in the sense of moving in and out of different worlds. As an educator, I appreciated how Lizy J. Campbell has masterfully woven mystery and imagination with themes of loss, identity, and courage, allowing readers to truly connect with Emma’s internal growth and resilience. The balance between whimsy and meaningful reflection makes this a strong choice for upper-elementary or middle-grade readers. I gladly recommend this book to teachers, parents, and librarians looking for magical realism with heart and purpose.
