Set in a future where computers are literally connected to the human body, The Light Bringer's Kingdom by Anne Carly Abad is a quest filled with surprising twists. This terrific adventure centers on two sisters, Path and Sierra, and Eli, a young man they meet when Path blacks out after having a vision. As the two women are drawn into a terrifying journey of destiny and betrayal, they discover gifts they never knew they had and a family history they wished wasn't theirs. Eli's family legacy entwines with theirs as they fight to stay alive and escape from the Light Bringer, a fallen angel.
In the Light Bringer's Kingdom, Anne Carly Abad has created a fresh and unique take on the Lucifer mythology. The diverse characters are intriguing and well-developed with plenty of action to drive the plot forward. I loved the relationship between Path and Sierra. With the help of Eli, they make appealing heroes the reader cannot help but root for. Abad's world is filled with vivid images and terrifying monsters, perfect for reading late into the night. The character of the Light Bringer creates a wonderful image of evil, and the Abomination even more so. Aside from a few minor writing style issues, The Light Bringer's Kingdom is well-crafted right to the end. The writing is terrific, the images, dialogue, characters, and plot are wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Despite the cliffhanger ending, the whole journey was a pleasure to experience. If there is a second book, I look forward to finding out how the future of Path, Sierra, and Eli develops.
