Captain Alexandria de Sade was once the captain of Naviwerks chrono-ship #25. After learning the truth about how the company was treating their customers, she turned down a promotion, left the man she loved and disappeared with her ship. Her new plan was to sabotage Naviwerks’ business of artifact and heirloom retrieval. Captain Alex hired an expert crew for her stolen chrono-ship which she re-christened The William’s Hunt. Her new crew consists of a genius Horotechnician, an ex-marine security officer, a flamboyant playboy historical expert, a cranky physician, and a highly skilled pilot.
Their first venture is a visit to Milan, Italy, in 1490 to retrieve the working model of Leonardo da Vinci’s Gran Cavallo before Naviwerks' retrieval team arrives. What should have been a simple job quickly turns into something else when they learn that Naviwerks has laid a trap for them. But that’s the least of it. They soon learn what the mega-corporation has really been doing, altering the past…
This book is actually a combination of the five episodes of the maiden voyage of The William’s Hunt titled The Milan Job. Author Krista Cagg has developed a good cast of characters, showing the strengths and flaws of each. I liked the plot; however, there is a lot of detail and not as much action. I also found a lot of repetitiveness that could have been reduced once the individual episodes were put together as one story. Overall, a good read and I can see a series of missions for this crew in the future.
