Author Biography

Ray Flodna is 42 years old, happily married, and living on a sunny island in the middle of the Mediterranean; Malta. About four years ago he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. At the time he felt as if his world had come to an end. With the support of his wife he managed to recover and get over the psychological hurdles that came with losing a testicle and going through the heart stopping scans to determine if the cancer had spread. Luckily it hadn’t.

After the ordeal was over he felt that I had to do something about this disease. He decided to write a novel; called ‘The monster between my legs’. All proceeds from the book are going to local cancer foundations.

Writing helped Ray in a way no other treatment ever could; the downside is that now he’s hooked and can’t stop. He is currently writing his second novel.

The Monster Between My Legs is what Guido, a Sicilian porn star, affectionately calls his penis. He realizes how fitting the nickname is when diagnosed with testicular cancer. Guido fears his upcoming surgery will have damaging effects on his career, as well as his health and doesn’t want to become a Sicilian Gelding. He reflects on his life and wants to make amends with people he has hurt in the past. This is not easy as his agent, Clash, wants to make a reality show on Guido’s illness. Guido’s friend, Luigi, is a carefree guy working at a bakery where disaster seems to follow anyone he trains. He does not take instructions seriously and mishandled a batch of worm infected crackers. Does he even care if it is purchased by consumers? When Luigi throws Guido a party, secrets from the past are exposed and their friendship is tested. The book is written by R. Itchy Knob Flodna.

R. Flodna wrote an entertaining book that had my attention. I liked the very colorful characters who never ceased to amuse me with their witty dialogue. This was one of the highlights of the story, and I thought the author did well in this area. The Monster Between My Legs describes the fears and dreams that Guido has about his illness, but written in a clever format using humour as its base. It was interesting to see how each character reacted to Guido’s dilemma. Reading this was worth the laughs I got.
