Wow! Just, wow! That’s exactly what I thought when I finished reading The Mortal Falls, the first book in the planned Undercover Elementals series by author Anna Durand. This book grabbed me from the very start and kept me obsessively reading all the way through until the very end! Follow the story of Lindsey Porter, a young woman who is ready to start her life anew after moving to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, escaping from Texas and a difficult past which included her need to kill her fiance in self defense, as she starts to build a new life for herself. She starts to feel as if the remote area she has chosen just might be the perfect place for her, but then she is framed for the murder of a tourist. With only a stunningly gorgeous stranger, Nevan, to help her, she isn’t sure of her chances. Nevan has a dark history of his own, as well as supernatural powers that few understand. Will Lindsey and Nevan be able to develop the relationship that appears to be building between them, or will their difficult situations keep them apart? You’ll need to read the book to find out.
I loved The Mortal Falls. Loved. It. How’s that for a review? Well, it’s definitely how I felt about this fantastic book by author Anna Durand. She has done a wonderful job in creating characters that her readers will relate to, connect with, and truly come to care about; not always an easy feat in a work of fantasy. If that isn’t a hallmark of a great author, I’m not sure what is. And talk about steamy...there are enough exciting scenes in this read to keep even the most romance starved reader satisfied. Any reader who loves a great work of romance or fantasy should definitely read this book. I am pleased to be able to highly recommend The Mortal Falls and look forward to reading more in this very promising series by Anna Durand as soon as I possibly can!
