The Prisoners of Jyldor is a work of fiction in the fantasy, interpersonal drama, and suspense genres. Penned by author Victoria Bastedo, the plot follows a protagonist, Flueryn, with the ability to turn herself and others invisible, facing the challenge of protecting her city from recurring villainous attacks that result in citizens being captured. Niyk arrives to assist in the fight, offering to train Flueryn in combat and urging her to risk everything to defend others, but she grapples with the responsibility of keeping him safe while navigating a world of secrets. The author has crafted an exhilarating and imaginative journey into a world where courage and sacrifice collide with the curious and nuanced power of invisibility.

I really loved the concept of this novel right from the start, as it handled the proposed superpower of invisibility in an innovative way that was closely linked to the emotional drive behind the story. Victoria Bastedo's intricate storytelling kept me engaged as I followed Flueryn's struggle to protect her city and its inhabitants, and there was never a dull moment in the well-balanced flow between suspenseful exposition and the next action-packed twist. The dynamics between different characters were crafted with superb dialogue and physical descriptions to distinguish and establish characters well, highlighting themes of trust and camaraderie in the face of adversity. As the tension mounted and the stakes grew higher, I found myself eagerly turning the pages with full confidence in the author to deliver satisfying conclusions that would all make sense, and I was never disappointed. Bastedo masterfully blends action, suspense, and emotional depth, leaving a lasting impression with her captivating tale of bravery and resilience. Overall, I would certainly recommend The Prisoners of Jyldor to fans of emotionally charged fantasy novels everywhere.
