CJ and Lora love their new puppies, Porter and Midge. Porter is a curious apricot mastiff with paws bigger than a bear's! Lora's puppy, Midge, is a Greater Swiss Mountain. The American Independence Day celebration is just around the corner, and Lora and CJ would love to bring their puppies to the parade. But first, they must train them to get used to lots of new people and noise. Despite Porter and Midge being the life of the party and always curious, they are afraid of new things. Will CJ and Lora succeed in training their puppies how to be good doggie citizens? Will the puppies be calm and quiet when the parade day comes? Read The Puppy Adventures of Porter and Midge by Jennie Chen and Giselle Nevada to find out.

Many puppy owners would concur that it is difficult to control a puppy, especially when their heightened sense of smell and keen hearing kick in. The information shared in this story should help you better understand how you can keep your puppy calm and seated, even when they are incredibly excited and finding it hard to stop themselves from running off. You can also learn a few vital tips on how to check if your puppy is healthy from the vet in the book, Dr. Weaver. While the information will benefit both children and adults, I was impressed that this story was tailored to offer children more knowledge and support on how to treat their pets. Chen and Nevada have also incorporated essential positive values such as why it is important to seek help and how to live happily with pets. I found The Puppy Adventures of Porter and Midge by Jennie Chen and Giselle Nevada to be fantastic in every way. It's a skillfully crafted, inclusive, and educational read that every animal lover should check out.

Wouldn’t it be fun to be part of a big parade along with your family dog? The Puppy Adventures of Porter and Midge: Out and About by Jennie Chen and Giselle Nevada explores this theme. CJ and Lora thought so and they’ve been told that if they vaccinate and train their puppies properly, they can all take part in the parade and be in the spotlight. The young people take their responsibilities seriously, starting with a visit to the vet for a check-up and vaccinations. It takes time and patience, but they both have clever puppies that learn quickly. CJ’s puppy is sometimes nervous about new things, while Lora’s puppy is more adventurous and wants to be at the center of the excitement. Both puppies have a lot to learn. Will they be ready for the big parade?

Jennie Chen and Giselle Nevada’s picture book The Puppy Adventures of Porter and Midge is a thorough and entertaining way to teach young people how to train and care for their puppies. The plot begins with a challenge: the possibility of participating in the big Independence Day Parade. Following the camp counselor’s advice, CJ and Lora embark on an experience in puppy care and training. The story is written in simple, clear, and concise language. The bright, bold, colorful illustrations help develop the plot. This is a great motivational book to help prepare young people to welcome puppies into their homes and their lives. The book concludes with checklists to help new dog trainers complete their training tasks and enjoy some adventures, too. A great tool for learning responsible and loving dog ownership.

The Puppy Adventures of Porter and Midge by Jennie Chen and Giselle Nevada is the story of CJ and Lora who want to take their puppies to the Independence Day Parade on the 4th of July. Their puppies’ names are Porter and Midge. The camp counselor advises CJ and Lora to socialize their pets before taking them to the parade. CJ and Lora are on a mission with Porter and Midge taking them all around town, starting with the vet, then later a soccer game, the mall, the farm, and the beach. Finally, Porter and Midge can attend the parade and join CJ and Lora on the float while enjoying the view of the fireworks. The story details how CJ and Lora socialize their puppies at each location in preparation for the bustling and noisy parade.

The Puppy Adventures of Porter and Midge by Jennie Chen and Giselle Nevada is a delightful, colorful, and interesting story about the journey that two pet owners follow to socialize their beloved puppies so they can live a full and happy life as part of their new family, partaking in all the activities. I enjoyed reading this story because it changes your perspective on adopting a puppy. Usually, we think of how the puppy will make our family happy, but this story opens you up to your responsibility as an owner to make the puppy happy. A puppy that fits into all social situations will live a full life because the owners can take them almost anywhere. I found this a resourceful read that gave me lots of food for thought.
