The RayBright Caper by B. B. Teeter is the first book in the Kirbi Mack series. Kirbi Mack is a young, biracial female security consultant and she’s just been hired by a San Diego defense research lab. She’s not a weak female though, and she’s about to prove her worth. She’s on the trail of a pair of criminals planning to steal a highly valuable item from the lab, and it doesn’t take her long to pick up their trail. This is more than just your standard heist though. The further Kirbi goes, the more violence and greed she uncovers. This is about more than finding the criminals now. This is about Kirbi keeping her head – and her life – as she faces betrayal at every turn in her quest to bring them down.

The RayBright Caper by B. B. Teeter is an excellent start to a series. It is a very involved story, so be warned: if you lose your concentration, you might just lose the plot. Once you get into the story, it will hook you with lots of high-octane action, combined with twists and turns that will leave your head reeling. The characters are amazing, especially the strong female lead, and the descriptive way of writing will bring them to life before your very eyes. A unique plot blends humor with a crime thriller to create a fun story that leaves you gasping for breath at the end. Exciting, heart-pounding, and thrilling are just three words that describe this novel, and I guarantee you will want to read the next installment immediately.

Two mismatched criminals pull off an unbelievable heist, and the victimized corporation hires a tiny young woman to roust them out in the exciting thriller, The RayBright Caper: A Kirbi Mack Novel Book 1 by B.B. Teeter. Harvey Grant sees potential in Mark, the computer hacker living out of his van, as the perfect partner in crime. Harvey offers Mark Hatcher a job helping him steal a top-secret reverse-engineered device from the RayBright Corporation. After considering the high-tech security of the corporation, Harvey bribes Steven Stanko to scope out the strongest and weakest points of RayBright security. When Stanko gets caught and fired, the corporation hires Kirbi to find out if someone is trying to infiltrate their company. However, Harvey and Mark have got a head start on her. Can Kirbi and her partner, Baines, prevent Harvey and Mark from stealing the device? Or will they be too late to stop the third party from buying it from Harvey?

With cunning criminals and a clever investigator, The RayBright Caper: A Kirbi Mack Novel Book 1 by B.B. Teeter is an exciting thriller. It is an outstanding book with fascinating characters, an intricate plot, and a riveting storyline that builds to an unexpected ending. Containing suspense, intrigue, and a little action, I found it hard to put the book down once I picked it up. Seeing the story from the criminal's and detective's points of view, it is easy to root for both the villain and the investigator. Even though Harvey's character is a little rough, his scruples are admirable. At the same time, I wasn't too impressed with the General's ethics. The story and characters create an interesting paradox. The story ends on a cliffhanger, and I am looking forward to meeting Kirbi again.

The RayBright Caper is the first book of B.B. Teeter's Kirbi Mack crime novel series. Harvey Grant sees potential in an unpredictable young man named Mark Hatcher and hires him as an accomplice in his planned heist of a high-tech device stored at RayBright Labs. After a security breach, Erick Van Horne, founder of RayBright Labs, and his partner, retired General John Shellhammer, hire the services of Kirbi Mack, a resourceful security consultant, to help them solve the case. As Harvey and Mark bicker and fight their way through the mission, things don't go according to plan as taking advantage of a couple of naive employees proves costly. Meanwhile, Kirbi must be wary of her targets as not everything is how it seems.

Filled with twists and turns, The RayBright Caper is a wild rollercoaster ride that keeps you glued to the pages. Author B.B. Teeter juggles multiple points of view with a deft touch, providing an equally significant amount of page-time to all of the major players in the story. The story flies by like a breeze with a plot that moves at a brisk pace. The characters are well-developed, and I found Kirbi, Harvey, Mark, and Jane compelling. Harvey and Mark's dynamic reminded me of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman's relationship in the hit TV series -- Breaking Bad. I enjoyed the climax, even though B.B. Teeter leaves the story on a cliffhanger. If you love heist stories or espionage novels, you're going to love The RayBright Caper.
