Achieve Extraordinary Outcome by Carol Sanford is a non-fiction book on business practices and how to innovate and reinvent a business onto a long-term, sustainable path that helps both people and society. The Regenerative Business is designed for companies or organizations that are looking to completely reinvent themselves inside and out for a radical shift in practices and outcome. The book is divided into many chapters and sub-sections that dive into topics such as developing people, eliminating toxic business practices, innovation regarding how work is accomplished, Work Design and its various phases, and much more. There are also solid case studies and examples that Carol has provided from her own experience in the field working with these companies. The questions at the conclusion of chapters are thought-provoking and the book also provides a detailed notes section at the end with references.
I think that innovation and regeneration is key for any organization in today’s fast-paced and rapidly changing world, and this is what the book is about. The Regenerative Business approaches the topic from all angles and I especially appreciated the focus on people or employees and their development into active participants in this process from a ground-up level. Carol Sanford speaks from experience and clearly knows what she’s talking about, and her writing style is concise and clear without being dry. For any entrepreneur or person looking to learn the tools to transform a business, this is a good book.
