Author Biography

Sandie Will is a multi-award winning author of psychological thrillers/horror. She loves tapping into our fears to scare us all and make us cringe.

She lives in the Tampa Bay Area, and works as a geologist by day and a writer at night. Her down times are spent with her husband of over 30 years, family, and pets. Road trips with Sandie should be avoided as she’s been known to demand endless stops at road cuts to satisfy her geology cravings and teach her companions everything they never wanted to know about the Earth.

Sandie especially loves finding little bookstores and antique shops, tasting new wines and coffees, learning histories and cultures, exploring the Appalachians and Rockies, and writing in her back room nestled in the arms of an old oak.

In Sandie Will’s The Replacings, Wyatt Corringer didn’t want any part of Adrian Webster’s plan, but there’s only so much you can do to thwart the plans of your kidnapper. He had tried to kill him, tried to stop him from completing the family he had once lost, but nothing he did made any difference. Or maybe it did. Adrian needed him, needed his family to keep his demon, Shade at bay. The thing is, even though he has everything he needed, his demon is not at peace; he is more determined than ever to ensure everything is just as Adrian desires, no matter who gets hurt.

I really enjoyed learning more about Adrian and Shade, seeing into the mind of the villain, and how he studied and applied techniques of manipulation in order to ensure cooperation. The ever-escalating fury and threat of Shade ensured the reader dared not step away for too long. I loved this book as it really is a psychological thriller. Sandie Will plays her version of Stockholm Syndrome against Wyatt’s drive for survival and the need to protect Adrian’s other victims. The Replacings truly is a tale of twists and manipulation. You fear for the characters as you’re dragged into the horrific things they are forced to endure, while all the time glimpsing things from Adrian’s perspective. He is a savior, taking his new family from cruel and neglectful hands, giving them a new life, a new purpose, ensuring they have everything they need, within his limits that is. All he needs is their cooperation. And that’s precisely what Shade will go to any lengths to ensure. Gripping, horrifying, and thrilling, this is a page-turning sadistic delight for readers who love a deep-rooted psychological thriller.

The Replacings in a bone-chilling, sadistic thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from the start of the story. Readers are immediately taken into the throes of the story, a kidnapping, and the author’s descriptions of the abduction are so vivid that readers will feel THEY are inside a lucid dream, feeling every emotion and sensation—their worst nightmares coming to life on the pages of this book. Readers’ hearts will be torn into a billion pieces as they read the horrors that the children have to endure at the hands of their abductor. Readers will be pushed to the limits as they navigate through this story that takes them on a sinister ride into hell—the forbidden tower.

I loved that the author gives the reader an insider’s view into the mind of a monster, and her ability to weave different aspects of the characters' personalities into the story is simply amazing. Overall, this book provides nonstop suspense making this a fast-paced read that you won’t be able to put down.

First of all, wow, after the first story, The Takings, with Adrian and Wyatt, I didn’t know if Sandie Will could pull it off again with the same characters, but she did and then some. Sandie Will masters story pacing in The Replacings as she ramps up your emotions until they pique and then gives you just long enough rest before taking you through another emotional rollercoaster. The Replacings is the psychological thriller to read this year! Within the first few pages, you’ll be sucked into the storyline and emotionally tied to one, if not multiple, characters.
The Replacings is an excellent option if you’re looking for a fast-paced, page-turning, psychological thriller. I loved The Takings and think The Replacings is a phenomenal follow-up in the storyline. As with The Takings, Sandie Will leaves you on the edge of your seat on the last page, making you turn it in horror to see the back cover. No story truly ends, but Sandie Will ends The Replacings in the perfect spot for a psychological thriller.

The Replacings is a psychological thriller that takes us deep into two damaged psyches.

Adrian’s mind shattered when he lost his family. Now a dark, dangerous part of himself is determined to replace them.

Wyatt was the first kidnapping victim, taken seven years ago. Suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, he struggles to do what’s necessary to survive, while empathizing with his captor.

The psychological aspects of this story are real and unsettling.

I didn’t read the first book, The Takings, and I had no problem reading this one as a stand-alone.

*I received an eARC from the author.*

After reading "The Takings," I wondered if and how Adrian and Wyatt's story might continue ... Seven years later, it picks up again in suspenseful fashion, taking us back into the wilds of the "real Florida," and immersing us in Adrian's warped fantasies of rebuilding his family. You'll be drawn into this tale, with new characters, new horrors, and an ending that might leave you just a little unsettled. Great read!
