In writing The Rise And Fall Of A 'Casino' Mobster: The Tony Spilotro Story Through A Hitman's Eyes, Frank Cullotta seeks to set the record straight regarding his association with Tony Spilotro, with help from co-author Dennis N. Griffin. Anthony (Tony) Spilotro was the Chicago Outfit’s man in Vegas looking out for the millions being skimmed in the various mob-backed casinos. Cullotta’s friendship with Spilotro spanned thirty years, from the streets of Chicago to the Vegas Strip. The two men met as rivals, but bonded and soon became criminal associates, committing various misdemeanors and felonies in Chicago and other locales. While Cullotta tended toward burglaries and robberies, Spilotro’s muscle would be utilized by the Chicago Outfit. Their reliance on Spilotro would ensure his ascent to the pinnacles of power in the Mafia. But Spilotro’s ambition and foibles would lead to an epic fall.
