The Shaman by K. J. Porter is a brilliant psychological thriller that will take readers on a journey filled with darkness and mighty revelations. Lucas is very proud of his heritage. He belongs to a long line of powerful shamans and he has prophetic dreams. However, when a simple night turns out to be a disaster, Lucas loses his confidence and takes solace in alcohol. Sooner than he realizes, alcohol becomes a real problem for him. To add fuel to the fire, he is having weird visions about a man killing people for personal gratification. He tries to dull this with alcohol, but it doesn’t seem to work for him. Everything goes to hell when he is accused of all the murders and the woman he loves is the killer's next target. How can he stop the killer? Can Lucas prove his innocence? Or will he be too late?
What will you do if you know someone dear to you is going to die? The Shaman by K. J. Porter is an intense story, one that had me biting my nails and screaming at Lucas at times. In the beginning, I wanted to shake him, make him realize that things will not get better like this, but then he fought tooth and nail to stop the killer and clear his name. I enjoyed his growth, the way he got his act together and made sure he was in the right frame of mind to do things properly. The mystery was intense, it was dark enough to have my attention and intriguing enough to keep reading on. The pace is fast, the narrative is smooth and the character development is on point. This is an incredible story, one that will have you stay up longer than your normal bedtime, but you will enjoy every single moment of it!
