The Silver Lining by Paulette Rae is a love story that speaks about how life has its own way of teaching things to people. Briley is celebrating her best friend Juliana's birthday. She wants to make it a special night and during the party she recognizes one of the guests who is someone from her past. Keith Trimble was a mistake made by Briley and now he is back to haunt her. Though Briley wants to hide her past, Keith has other plans. It is time now for Briley to fight for what is rightfully hers and she plans to do just that. What is Briley's big secret that she has been trying to hide from the world?
It is a mysterious romance that will capture reader attention with its intrigue and secrecy. This makes readers curious to know more about Briley's life and that sets the pace of the story. All four characters, Briley, Keith, Mark and Juliana, have been portrayed strongly with each one's individuality being a striking part of the theme. The characters are relatable and they are people whom you come across in life.
Apart from being a good romantic novel, what I liked about the theme was it also speaks about patience and acceptance which is a good message to readers. Life has its own way of teaching things to people and sometimes it is best to just be patient and wait for things to happen.
