I loved The Three Little Frogs by Gary Montgomery! What a beautiful story it is. Three little frogs build houses for themselves to live in. One builds a house of weeds and grasses, another builds his house of sticks and reeds, and the third builds his out of rocks and shells. There’s a creepy old alligator who decides to have frogs for his meal. The 'gator slams his tail into the water to flush out the little froggies, but they don’t plan to be alligator food. The story is a fun retelling of an old tale in a unique setting with amazing action and puts the original pig story to shame. The ending is so amusing, enjoyable, and unexpected.
These are examples of the entertaining writing of Gary Montgomery in the picture book, The Three Little Frogs. What a delight it is to read. Children will become interactive with the repetitive lines and laugh at the antics of the frogs and the alligator. In addition, Michael Verrett’s amazing illustrations provide a beautiful setting, joy, and laughter to the story. The Three Little Frogs is bound to be on a best seller’s list. I’m planning to purchase it for my granddaughter. This book is a great addition to a classroom or school library as well as for parents and grandparents to buy. I recommend The Three Little Frogs as your next picture book purchase.
