The Throw Away: The Chronicles of Allysa (Volume 1) by Roxy A'nod revolves around the story of Allysa who lives with her adoptive father AD. She never knew her parents personally, only through what her adoptive father told her. AD is wicked and believes that women are born to serve men. She somehow manages to get out of his sadistic grip and move away, but he knows many of her secrets which keep her connected to him. Allysa is extremely intelligent and, as she grows older, she understands the world is not as good as she thought and there are a lot of evil people around her. As the story progresses, readers see Allysa coming of age, growing into a beautiful girl, and trying to solve the puzzles in her life. She realizes the world looks at you and judges you with the choices you make in life.

The many dimensions to the plot give it a mysterious edge that makes this a compelling read. All the characters are well sketched and the secrets that they have bring out the curiosity factor in readers. The many stages of Allysa's life have been portrayed well and people who come in and out of her life add to the enigma of Allysa, her intelligence, and how she struggles to survive in a world filled with evil people. I found the story fascinating. It explores a woman's journey for survival after being dumped by her parents at a very young age. The open ending of the story will make readers curious to know what happens next in Allysa's life and wait eagerly for the next volume.

The storyline itself makes this a thriller to read. You keep wondering what is going to happen next. With every twist and turn something unexpected happens. I like the way the author made the main character, Allysa, so personable you really get involved with her story. I'm waiting to see what happens in the next volume and hope the author keeps up the good work.

What a great story from a brilliant mind! Every girl can relate to this character because we have all been damaged in some way. Her victories are all of our victories, that is how much the book engages you. If you are looking for a underdog story mixed with finding yourself and love along the way, this is it. .
