The Time Trinity by Kevin D Miller is an absolutely enthralling journey through time. Bohdi McMullin and his partner Elena Lozano have sought refuge from those chasing them, wanting to steal the relics and the powers they possess to travel through time. They are currently hiding in 1942 Oahu, Hawaii, at the home of Bohdi’s daughter, Cassie, and her husband, William. Never far ahead of Bohdi’s abusive father, Phillip, and government agents who each want to possess the time relics for different purposes, Bohdi and Elena are constantly forced to flit through time to escape their relentless pursuit. Phillip wants the timepiece relics to locate his beloved wife, Ethel. Bohdi must make an incredibly difficult decision as to the ultimate disposition of both the time relics and himself.
The Time Trinity is the fourth book in a series, but it stands alone as a separate adventure, and the author does an excellent job of laying out the background of the main characters. In fact, this book may well encourage readers to pick up earlier books in the series. Kevin D Miller has created some wonderful characters that readers will understand and empathize with. Bohdi, especially, has abandonment issues and consequently has been incredibly overprotective of his daughter, Cassie. Readers will enjoy him coming to terms with both his failings and his strengths, especially with the wise counsel of his grandmother. Although time travel is the underlying mechanism, there is a deeper, more meaningful aspect that will resonate with all readers. Ultimately, it is a tender love story about family, relationships, trials, and redemption. The author’s style is relaxed and conversational, although the fast pace will not allow readers to become bored. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
