The Unlikely Redemption of the Thief Sydney Bridgewater is Mic Lowther’s second book in The Moorhouse Trilogy, as his heroine, Sydney Bridgewater, has banked a fortune from her previous illegal activities, and has now decided to become a model citizen. She takes a very clever path toward absolving herself legally from all her felonies and embarks on a new life. Her goals are to do something significant for herself, for a friend, and for someone who is not her friend. Since she is easily bored, she trains as a private investigator and opens her own agency. She is then approached by a former acquaintance with a proposition she cannot refuse. This takes her from the United States to Europe with the assistance of two of her protégées, an artist and a fashion designer. As Sydney is faced with problems in finding people on a particular list, many of them on the wrong side of the law, the question is why did the company who hired her want these people and what did they plan to do with them? Sydney Bridgewater intends to find out.

You may even guess by the quirky title that this book is something quite different. It is one of the most unique books I have read in a long time. I loved it, especially as the storyline is so clever. I would really like some of the computer programs that Sydney produced. So what if she defrauded every one of the companies she had worked for? Only by cents from each of her victims and, having amassed millions, what better way to pay for her earlier bad behavior than by helping others? You have to admire the way she thinks. How she wriggles out of breaking the law into becoming squeaky clean is pure genius, and the nefarious list of people she is tasked with finding had me laughing out loud. It is not always easy to depict law-breaking with humor with a heroine you root for, but Mic Lowther accomplishes this with ease. You cannot help but turn the pages to find out what will happen next. I particularly enjoyed the European travel angle as Sydney flies on her quest to track down missing people. I highly recommend The Unlikely Redemption of the Thief Sydney Bridgewater.

Sydney Bridgewater is a thief—a very good one at that. With her skills as a computer system analyst, she managed to amass wealth to the tune of 21 million dollars from the five companies she worked with for the past 28 years. The craziest part is that she did it so subtly that none of these companies noticed! Determined to start a new life with no baggage from her past, she contacts a good lawyer who reveals these acts to her former employers and makes sure she has no future litigation. With this new chance at enjoying life, she moves to Oklahoma and tries her hand at being a private investigator. She is contacted by one of her former employers for the job of bringing certain criminals to the company for a voluntary rehabilitation program. Is there a hidden motive for this assignment? Mic Lowther's The Unlikely Redemption of the Thief Sydney Bridgewater explores the life of Sydney Bridgewater and the impact of her decisions on those around her.

The cover of this book captures the essence of the story. It shows a sassy woman who is living life, knowing what she wants and how to achieve it. Another thing I love is the storytelling skills of Mic Lowther who writes in such a way that you will never feel bored while reading. The perfect use of suspense is also enough to keep readers enthralled by the story. One important skill I learned while reading is how wisdom and tact can save you and get you out of tricky situations. The author empowered the heroine of this story with a lot of both. I love the theme of fashion decency that was introduced. The ending of the story was as good as the beginning. The Unlikely Redemption of the Thief Sydney Bridgewater is a book I would recommend to readers who love good thrillers.

The Unlikely Redemption of the Thief Sydney Bridgewater is the second installment of The Moorhouse Trilogy by Mic Lowther. After successfully stealing $28 million from five different employers over 28 years, Sydney Bridgewater finds a way to legitimize her illegal earnings, reconciling with her former employers in the process. She also offers a million dollars in prize money to the winner of an internet treasure hunt to find a photo. Sydney hires Xander Moorhouse's grandchildren, Sandra and Rory Griffith, to work with her in her fashion house and a private investigation company. When attorney C. Monica Stansbury seeks her services to locate people on a list for the mysterious We Remember organization, Sydney uncovers a sinister conspiracy that involves a large-scale money laundering operation. What's next in store for Sydney Bridgewater?

A flawless mix of sleuth, mystery, intrigue, and charm makes The Unlikely Redemption of the Thief Sydney Bridgewater a delicious treat for crime novel fans. Something about the tone of Mic Lowther's narrative reminds you of Hollywood's Ocean's Eleven movie series. Akin to Steven Soderbergh's hit movie franchise, Lowther's novel also has that same sense of humor and mystery elements blended seamlessly to form an entertaining crime saga you will love. The protagonist, Sydney Bridgewater, is a fascinating character. She is talented, intelligent, funny, and meticulously effective. Despite her criminal past, you can't help but root for her. The plot also has its share of twists and turns that keep your eyes glued to the pages. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the last installment of this trilogy. Readers of crime/sleuth mystery novels are going to love this book.
