Patrick lives with his wife Beth and their two teen-aged children, Marissa and David, in quaint Pamlico County, NC. Patrick is the Associate Pastor of Breath of God International Outreach Chruch, in New Bern, NC. He and his wife have been in ministry for over 18 years. The types of ministry that they have been involved in includes: music, teaching, preaching, evangelism, counseling, writing, market place ministry, discipleship/mentoring, Men's and Women's
conferences, mission trips, church leadership and Special Needs Baseball. They believe that it is by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in their lives that they are able to fulfill their call in ministry. In August 2009 both Patrick and Beth were ordained as ministers under Breath of God International Outreach Ministries where they currently serve on the board of directors. Patrick and Beth have a passion not only to reach the lost but to encourage Christian believers to become the fullness of Christ. The Weapons of Our Warfare by Patrick A. Bucksot is a wonderful scriptural dissertation of the weapons Christians have been given by God to carry out the spiritual warfare in which we spend our every hour. I have to confess this is not what I thought the book was going to be about. I selected this book to review because at my Church we are going to be doing Ephesians chapter 6 next Sunday. I mistakenly interpreted the title to be a reference to the spiritual armor of God which is the subject of that chapter. However, what I found instead was a superb extension of what we should be doing once we’ve donned that spiritual armor. Armor is primarily defensive. Weapons are offensive. Both must be properly used to win a battle. Patrick Bucksot has distilled the essence of God’s arsenal for us to better understand how we are to face - and defeat - the enemy and his many temptations.
The Weapons of Our Warfare is, truly, a reference book that has a place on the bookshelf of every Christian. Nothing in this book cannot also be found in the Bible, but Mr. Bucksot has sought out each and every weapon available to us, and discoursed upon them within the pages of this book. In many ways, one could consider this book a Bible Study. Indeed, it would serve quite well as a Bible Study text, in which each chapter of the book would be the topic of prayer, study, and discussion in successive weeks. Mr. Bucksot has faithfully followed the leading of the Holy Spirit to produce this work. I most adamantly suggest it should belong in the library of every Christian.
