Author Biography

A curious introvert, Cristina Smith has learned to be an award-winning extrovert author. Now she talks to strangers and even enjoys it. Her nerdy idea of fun is to write playfully profound best selling puzzle books about life’s mystery, magic and science.

By following where her heart and soul lead, Cristina has earned honors in three aspects of life. Her books have garnered numerous literary awards. Founder of the Subtle Energy Center and longtime meditator, Cristina was voted Favorite Medical Intuitive on About.com. And rising phoenix-like from the ashes of her home after the devastating Cedar Fire wildfire disaster, the State of California honored Cristina for years of fire prevention community education. She lives in two lovely places, on a boat docked in San Diego and in the forests of Nevada City, CA.

“As puzzling as life is, it's wise to stay sharp, have fun and play often!”

The Word Search Sage: Yoga for the Brain by Cristina Smith, Rick Smith, and Ingrid Coffin is a self-help, health and fitness book which enables the reader to learn how to solve puzzles, have fun, kill time and actually learn about themselves. I love this quote: “Complete the 60 puzzles inside. In the process, discover that you have also solved more of the puzzle that is YOU!” That is exactly what a self-help book should do and this one does it beautifully. It even surpassed my expectations. The foreword and the introduction are actually part of the process and extremely personal as one of the authors shares their own experience with us.

The Word Search Sage: Yoga for the Brain by Cristina Smith, Rick Smith, and Ingrid Coffin is a striking puzzle book. I loved the inspiring quotes (such as “If you don’t start, you won’t finish” which I can relate to, being a teacher…), the soothing pictures, the ideas behind this volume. I also loved the clarifications about the puzzles, the explanations about the right and left brain, and the importance of the right brain intuitive approach. The fact that the puzzles are more and more difficult and that they are about different messages you need to learn is extremely engaging! For instance, puzzles 21-30 were particularly useful to me: “Does what I know interfere with what I need to learn?” I also tremendously enjoyed reading the texts which introduced each puzzle. This book of puzzles is the most original and useful one I’ve ever found, which was why I wanted to give it a try and I did not regret it, far from it. Thank you so much to the authors for this gem.
