“Professionals don’t have feelings, don’t have thoughts. They don’t have an autonomous life outside their function.” Perhaps some don't, but the professional in Fabio Amabili's novel, There's A Young Man Dressed In Blue, is a human being first and foremost. The protagonist is Avvocato Floriani, a self-conscious but brilliant young corporate lawyer working in Milan. He receives a new and difficult assignment from his firm, only to realize that something doesn't add up. Meanwhile, on the Adriatic coast, strange happenings pique the interest of the locals, as well as a solitary figure walking his dog on the beach. As two distinct and separate worlds prepare to clash, a mystery unfolds, one that not only threatens to ruin lives but also exposes the best and worst in all of us.

Unusual and at times disjointed, There's A Young Man Dressed In Blue by Fabio Amabili is an unexpectedly poignant and clever tale. The novel begins with what appears to be two separate plots (or stories) before offering the first of several surprises, which I won't reveal here. Behind this story, numerous themes, including manipulation, corporate skulduggery, and a man's choice to do what's right despite personal costs, elevate the reader's emotional immersion. In addition to the brilliant plot, excellent character development is also present, especially with the meticulously crafted protagonist. The pace is fast, and while Fabio breaks some rules regarding POV and structure, his judicious interspersing of Italian into the narrative goes a long way in creating the right atmosphere. For anyone seeking an intelligent contemporary tale with truly unexpected twists, this book is for you.

There's a Young Man Dressed in Blue by Fabio Amabili is a captivating mystery with thought-provoking themes. It is set in Italy, following Floriani, a young lawyer working at a big law firm in Milan, and Luca, who lives in Adriatica, a vibrant coastal city. While Floriani deals with corporate issues and a massive international deal, Luca is puzzled by the mysterious happenings in his town. Floriani's gut instinct tells him something is wrong with the merger he is about to facilitate, and he goes digging for answers. On the coast, the fish are dying, fishermen are going missing, earthquakes are happening at sea, and unusual lights are being observed at night. Luca also launches his own investigation to find the truth, and what he discovers goes beyond alien conspiracy theories. Their investigations finally lead them to a surprising twist in their stories and a sinister conspiracy lurking in the background, ready to silence anyone who gets too close to the truth.

There’s a Young Man Dressed in Blue covers Italian culture, legal drama, paranormal and déjà vu elements, and even some romance. At the heart of the story is a mystery tackling illegal activities by big corporate entities that endanger the aquatic ecosystem and innocent people. The themes are very relevant to today's world. We learn how politicians, businesspeople, and those in authority who are supposed to uphold the law are turning a blind eye or are actively involved in harmful business, detrimental to our environment. Fabio Amabili’s storytelling is dynamic, drawing you into the lives of the characters and making you navigate the complex maze of deceit that they find themselves in. Two major shock twists truly elevate the plot and make you think about perspective and the details that go into constructing a good story. The book also delves into personal struggles like loneliness, grief, and the desire to hold on to integrity and honesty when everyone around you is compromised. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone interested in intricate stories about social issues and legal drama.

There’s a Young Man Dressed in Blue by Fabio Amabili follows two very different men whose lives intersect in ways neither of them saw coming. Floriani is a young lawyer in Milan who is buried in work because of a major Italian-French business acquisition. He is dealing with deadlines, office tension, and complex relationships that leave him worn out. Luca, on the other hand, lives in a small town on the Adriatic coast where odd things have started happening. Fish are dying, whales are washing up ashore, and other bizarre events unfold, yet people seem to avoid talking about it. The story bounces back and forth between the busy city and the uneasy coastal town. When their paths finally collide, everything changes, and it makes you wonder if ordinary people can handle something completely outside their control.

There’s a Young Man Dressed in Blue by Fabio Amabili isn’t a story that rushes you along. In fact, it takes time to show readers what life looks like for the two main characters. You see Floriani glued to spreadsheets and meetings in Milan, the deadlines, the pressure, and the people depending on him, while Luca walks along empty beaches and notices the fish washing up, the whales that shouldn’t be there, and the weird things no one talks about. The story gives you enough of both worlds to understand them without spelling everything out. Some chapters overflow with reflection, while others merely observe the characters as they go about their days. It is a strange mix that keeps you paying attention and wondering how life and these unique events will ever come together. By the time you’re done reading, you really get what these characters are dealing with. The narrative doesn’t try to make anything complicated, yet it challenges you to do some deep interpretation of your own. Lovely story. I recommend it to fans of literary fiction and anyone who enjoys slow-building mysteries with a hint of the unexplained.

Something is wrong with Adriatica. Marine life is dying, students are getting sick, and several inexplicable phenomena unfold at sea. But there's a young man dressed in blue — his name is Floriani. He is a lawyer, and he will not let the matter slide. When he is assigned to a merger and acquisition with a tight deadline, he must prioritize his job and let the mystery unfold. But the client restricts him from digging too deep into the deal, which causes Floriani to keep investigating until he discovers a link between his client and the events in Adriatica. Unfortunately, he has no evidence, nor does he have the support of his law firm. What could the inexplicable phenomena possibly have to do with environmental disasters and a law firm's client? Read There's a Young Man Dressed in Blue by Fabio Amabili to find out.

There's a Young Man Dressed in Blue by Fabio Amabili is a riveting piece of literary excellence that creeps up on you and leaves you asking for more. It flows like poetry in one moment and rages like a thriller in another. The writing is natural, soulful, and straight from the heart—an award-winning masterpiece in every sense. Fabio's world-building is so realistic in the way he weaves real-life facts into this narrative. At first, they seemed too convenient to be true, but not after I encountered facts I previously knew and saw how well they fit into the storyline. The cultural context of the story is also preserved through bits of Italian conversation later explained in the footnotes. This is not your usual legal thriller. There are no shoot-outs or hitmen, but there are lots of hits and no misses. I also liked the social commentary about workplaces and urban development that alters the soul of a city. There's a Young Man Dressed in Blue is completely relatable, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

There's a Young Man Dressed in Blue by Fabio Amabili is a legal thriller that follows Avvocato (lawyer) Floriani, who works at a prestigious law firm in Milan. Even though his surgical-resident fiancée, Gabriella, does not understand his job, Floriani feels that he is contributing to the growth of his country. And with his new work on the Gordon Projects acquisition deal, which involves the purchase of an Italian-French company, he hopes to continue impressing his bosses. Unfortunately, something does not feel right as people involved in the deal are clearly hiding things about the company’s projects. At the same time, over on the Adriatic coast, a small town is falling apart, shaken by disturbing and inexplicable phenomena. In the middle of all this chaos is Luca, a young guy who is trying to figure out what’s really going on. As he digs deeper, he stumbles on the answers Floriani needs to figure out the mystery behind the acquisition deal.

There’s a Young Man Dressed in Blue starts like just another story about life in Italy, but before you know it, you’re knee-deep in mysteries and dealing with the dark side of human nature. It drags you right into the middle of danger, chasing after the truth and fighting to protect a community from unseen threats. The story is inspired by real-life mysteries, so everything feels unsettlingly possible. Fabio Amabili brings the characters to life, highlighting their desires, like Floriani's secret crush on his boss's daughter, their personal challenges, and what they feel about life’s complexities. There is a major plot twist that caught me completely off guard. When it hits, it flips everything you thought you knew about the story. The tension ramps up, especially toward the end, as you actually fear for these characters. The book doesn’t just entertain; it sounds the alarm about unchecked capitalism and reminds us why accountability matters when it comes to protecting the planet. It makes you wonder if you are going to be someone who buries the truth or someone who takes a stand against corruption. This is a wonderful read for anyone looking for a story with a meaningful social message.
