This Llama Can Write by Patty DeDurr is a children’s picture book about a charming little goat and a llama with dysgraphia. Dysgraphia makes it harder for Cria the llama to write, but that doesn’t stop the little trusty goat, Kid, from helping her. With the year-end approaching, the farm has a tradition of writing a letter to their favorite helper, but with Cria’s dysgraphia, how can she possibly write a whole letter? Kid is determined to find a way to help Cria, so she tries a new technique to help Cria with her writing. This story is all about perseverance and lending a helping hand to whoever is in need.

This Llama Can Write by Patty DeDurr is a children’s book that spreads awareness of dysgraphia, explaining this medical condition. It also teaches young readers the importance of helping one another. I liked how Cria sets a great example for children never to give up hope, and that everyone can overcome their challenges, no matter how big or small, through perseverance. I also loved that the end of the book includes an explanation of dysgraphia and its common signs and symptoms. It teaches children to be kind to one another. It offers a helpful guide for parents to identify if their child has dysgraphia and ideas on coping mechanisms for them. Overall, this is a unique and informative book for young and older audiences.
