Through the Eyes of the Beholder is a supernatural sci-fi thriller by A.S. Drayton. Held captive in the house of Padraig, a mad scientist, Malena Zarate Ignacio wakes up to find her lover Emmanuel coming to her rescue. Things don't go according to plan, but Padraig offers Malena the chance to earn her freedom by killing his thirteen-year-old son Rian. Meanwhile, Silvia Lucero, the assistant to the Pastor at Armonia Church, a woman of note in the community of Chula Vista, seeks El Brillo, the prism of light. After Malena comes across Silvia, the two realize that their goals align and set off to stop Padraig from wreaking havoc with his monstrous experiments and save Emmanuel. Caught up in these extraordinary circumstances are Rian, his friend Nesho, the drug dealer Finn, and a young woman named Alyssa.
A.S. Drayton takes an unconventional storytelling approach and weaves an intricate yarn full of mystery, intrigue, and plenty of thrills. Through the Eyes of the Beholder is fresh, unusual, and authentic, laced with a tinge of magical realism that makes the tale all the more riveting. Drayton begins the book on a high and follows it with multiple points-of-view narratives that feel as if it's an amalgamation of different short stories stitched together to create one large canvas. The list of characters is quite lengthy, with a plot full of curve balls that keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. If you're looking for an offbeat thriller, this is the book for you.
