Warm and comforting images fill the pages and set the tone for this warm and loving story, Together. By the end of the book, author Heather Stricker will have you believe that the best place to be at Christmas time—or any time—is with family and loved ones. She has created a wonderful and nurturing story to warm us on those cold winter nights that reminds us of the best gift to give this Christmas and year-round. Parents and teachers will enjoy the pleasant and subtle message this book conveys and the importance of family traditions. Read aloud or quietly, children of all ages—and their parents—will enjoy this rhyming tale. During a time when commercialism has consumed us, it’s nice to step back and remember the little things of the holiday season or to reflect on the year that is coming to a close.

Illustrator Martha Ratcliffe uses warm pastel colors as a backdrop to this beautiful and rhyming reminder for a soon-to-be classic book. I think Together is a book that will become a family tradition to read before Christmas or any time! For the things we take for granted, spending time with family is the greatest gift of all. A wonderful reminder that we may outgrow the toys and our interests may change with time, but we’ll cherish the memories of a wonderful time together for a long, long time. Together is written in rhyming fashion by author Heather Stricker and hints at family outings and activities that we could also be doing. I highly recommend this book and believe every home, public library, and school library should have a copy—or two.
