Donald James teaches some deep, spiritual lessons in Tommy’s Balloon: A Tale of Purpose, Restoration, and Joy. Tommy’s father is an inventor who gives him a very special balloon filled with helium. While Tommy is playing with his prized possession, his older brother, Stan, grabs the balloon and lets the helium out of it. Then Stan continues to torment Tommy by using the balloon for many different other purposes. When the balloon is damaged beyond use, Stan feels guilty and apologizes to Tommy. Tommy lovingly forgives his brother and then goes to be consoled by his father. Helium balloons can be fun, but the fun lasts only when used properly. Tommy’s father explains that God made us for a special and specific purpose. Only when we allow God to fill us with His presence will our hearts and lives be truly fulfilling.
Why do any of us exist? Each person has a reason for their existence, which can be found by allowing God to fill them. Tommy’s Balloon by Donald James teaches this vital information. As parents, it is our job to guide our children into a loving and fulfilling relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ by allowing Him to fill our hearts with His presence. This children’s picture book will capture your child’s imagination and lead them to an understanding of their purpose in life. The illustrations are colorful, and children will love them. This book is from a Christian perspective, and Donald boldly proclaims the need to allow God to fill us and give us new lives. I highly recommend this book.
