They say one must focus on one's blessings rather than shortcomings; however, how many of us actually look at our absolutely fit and functional bodies and count that as a blessing? The number of such people would be surprisingly low. Triumphant Ride! By Permit Only by Herman Cajigas Jr. would be an inspiration to this set of people -- which, unfortunately, includes me, too --and many others. At the age of nineteen, when kids are thinking about wild parties and their future among a million other things, the author met with an accident that bound him to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He could have surrendered to his condition and sulked for the rest of his life, but instead, he decided to concentrate on his absolutely perfect and healthy mental strength. He not only studied hard but also started a business of his own. His memoir is a living testament of what a human mind is capable of if one just believes in themselves.
The author started the memoir right from the point of his birth and how his parents started from the ground. Their hard work has definitely left an imprint on the heart and mind of the author, and that is evident throughout his memoir. His perseverance and strong character are an inspiration to us all. He has compiled his life lessons and presented those in a very effective manner in this book. His transformation from a carefree individual to an organized businessman is commendable.
There are so many takeaways from his memoir that I can't jot them all down. The closest to my heart is the one where he shares his learning that "Life reciprocates exactly that which you set in motion." This is an absolute jewel, and I hope to keep this with me forever. The story is written very beautifully with comic, tragic, and impressive moments woven together to create an intriguing memoir. I would recommend this book to every grateful and ungrateful individual. Hopefully, Triumphant Ride! By Permit Only by Herman Cajigas Jr. will help us all to focus on everything that we have and not to dwell on what we do not have.
