In Truth & Passion by D. A. Lawson, Dawn Powers is unsure about her impending marriage to mummy's boy Justin. But when she discovers his affair with her maid of honor, heartbroken Dawn returns to her parents. She soon meets a childhood friend, Steven, and the chemistry between them is hard to ignore. Dawn tries her best to keep Steven at arm's length as she tries to rebuild her life but she knows in her heart that Steven is everything she has been searching for. They are soon inseparable and planning a future together until a beautiful woman gatecrashes Steven's birthday party and informs Dawn she is Steven's fiancee. Dawn's heart is once again in pieces. She leaves the party just as Justin arrives in town, looking to reconcile their relationship. Justin wants Dawn back in his life and will go to any lengths to achieve it.
Truth & Passion by D. A. Lawson is just the kind of escapism romance that every woman needs to read. It was refreshing to see both lead characters, Steven and Dawn, finding safety and solace in each other's arms. Steven acted admirably to heal Dawn's fractured soul with patience and courtesy. Their adoring relationship was based on friendship and developed gradually, which I loved. Each of the characters was relatable with distinct personalities, especially Dana and Steven's father. The appearance of Justin and Carrie really made the story engaging and added an exciting layer to the plot. I loved the impending suspense as Justin began his search for Dawn and the events which followed took me completely by surprise. The ending was truly climactic with Justin's actions revealing his true character. The epilogue was a great addition as it answered all my questions about the characters.
