Two O'Clock on a Tuesday at Trevi Fountain: My Search for an Unconventional Life Abroad is a travel memoir about one young woman’s dream of living abroad. Helene grew up with parents who encouraged her love of travel with trips to London when she was young. Little did she know that travel would become an obsession for her and her husband Michael when they took a trip to Europe. They had ten days to visit Belgium, Amsterdam, and Paris. They both agreed they wanted to somehow find a way to live abroad without sacrificing stability. They wanted to make travel a sustainable way of life with both of them being employed and responsible. Helene shares her journey on the ups and downs of actively achieving her goal.
Author Helene Sula’s memoir is well-written and enticing as she shares secrets about how she made her dream of living abroad come true. This story isn’t about throwing caution to the wind and just leaping blindly into the abyss, but one of taking smart calculated steps to succeed with patience and tenacity. I think many readers will resonate with Sula’s approach and appreciate that travel and stability can go hand in hand. I especially liked how candid she was about the hard work she put in as a blogger before she saw any results. As a traveler myself who is living abroad, I found Two O'Clock on a Tuesday at Trevi Fountain to be an inspiring and informative read.
