Three years after the failed annihilation attempt on Earth by Icarus, an alien spaceship, a Centauri battleship intercepts a message from Icarus’ Polit-AI, reporting the treasonous acts of its captain by providing alien technology to Earth inhabitants and protecting human telepaths or mutants. The Centauri battleship launches a mission to Earth to exterminate the mutant humans and accomplish Icarus’ original mission. However, Icarus’ captain, Cap, has established telepathic links with human mutants, including Robby, a teenage telepath, and his brother Scott, a physicist and astronaut. He alerts them about the incoming battleship and helps them prepare for the looming war. The Centauri not only have an existing campaign of destruction on Earth, having infiltrated social media platforms, but are also bigger and deadlier. Will Earth survive what is coming its way? Find out in Tyrants of Gravity: The Sentinel Suppressions, Book Two by JH Gruger.

Lovers of sci-fi novels blended with adventure, suspense, and action will find Tyrants of Gravity by JH Gruger an enthralling read. I was introduced to a diverse cast through a multi-perspective storyline. The prose unfolds at a deliberate pace, alternating between high-stakes military action and scientific exposition. This allowed me to digest the plot’s premise and follow the action. Gruger vividly captures the dystopian and futuristic settings. Whether it was the school shooting in Colorado or the space combat between the Centauri and human beings, it felt like I was right there next to the cast, experiencing every moment. Gruger reveals the cast’s emotions and personalities through character-driven and purposeful conversations. The story explores themes of family bonds, social media manipulation, ethics of artificial intelligence and sentience, fear of the “other,” and more. I recommend reading the previous installment in the Sentinel Suppressions series to relish this read.
