Ulrik is an epic historical fantasy adventure novel written by Wendy L. Anderson. Ulrik, a Viking warrior, drowns in a storm while searching for new lands. Abandoned by the gods in a mysterious world, Ulrik sees a beautiful young woman waking up in the Sacred Lake. Soon, Ulrik and Tessa - who is gifted with a second chance at life in a young woman's body - strike up an intimate relationship and build themselves a home in the new world. However, the dwindling population of an ancient tribe forces their leader to take them captive and use Ulrik as a breeding stallion. Years later, Ulrik's family faces another threat from the Alahemwhey.
If you enjoy watching primeval adventure movies like Apocalypto, you're going to love Ulrik. Author Wendy L. Anderson crafts a wondrous world filled with legendary Viking warriors, ancient tribes, and time travelers to create a wildly entertaining tale that fulfills all your fantasy cravings. The plot moves at a blistering pace, filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep you glued to the pages. Each character is authentic, and their distinct personalities make them all the more compelling to read. Apart from Ulrik and Tessa, I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship and banter between the brothers and the romance between Emmer and Captain Bondur. I would recommend Ulrik to anyone interested in epic adventure stories set in ancient times.
