When her father becomes ill, a young woman comes home to help her mother while facing difficult decisions about her future in the romance novel, Unforgotten Dreams by Elizabeth Ann Thompson. Miranda and her fiance Dylan plan to finish school and live in Chicago. Miranda intends to be a veterinarian, and Dylan, a doctor at a clinic. Miranda has only one semester of college left when her father develops cancer. Coming home, Miranda leaves her fiance Dylan behind while she helps her mother on their family farm. As her father's health withers away, Miranda can't stand the thought of the farm doing the same. Miranda is astonished at how the community helps her parents out by doing chores for them, but she knows it can't last. Despite her parents, friends, and Dylan's objections, Miranda decides to give up school and come home to work the farm. Dylan is the most upset when he finds Miranda in the barn with the handsome farrier, Hank. With so many adverse situations arising at the same time, Miranda is overwhelmed. The one bright spot in her life is Hank, but Miranda is determined to stay true to Dylan. Will Miranda follow her heart?
The romance novel Unforgotten Dreams by Elizabeth Ann Thompson realistically conveys the emotional tension of life choices. The charming farmhouse setting gives the story a homely atmosphere that is the ideal backdrop for Miranda's character and dilemmas. Miranda's motivations, goals, and personality come through very well, creating a relatable protagonist. Miranda's relationship issues, including her attraction to Hank and her conflicting decision to finish college or stay at home, give the story a feeling of realism. The storyline comes to a satisfactory conclusion, tying all of the plot threads into neat little bows. This excellent book will charm those who enjoy clean romance novels.
