Unstuck At Last: Using Your Strengths to Get What You Want is a non-fiction self-help book written by Sarah K. Robinson. The author had counseled employers and their employees on how to maximize their performance and satisfaction with their jobs and their lives for over twenty years, but she was all too aware that she herself was stuck in a routine and situation that gave her little job or personal satisfaction. Her decision in 2013 to become one of the first Gallup Certified Strengths Coaches provided her with the tools and impetus to make the changes necessary for her to feel unstuck and motivated. The author recommends that readers take the Clifton StrengthsFinder Assessment to become more fully aware of their particular strengths prior to beginning their own work at becoming unstuck, but she also provides additional assessment tools on her website as well as exercises designed to assist each reader in beginning their own journey of self-discovery and transformation.

Sarah K. Robinson’s non-fiction self-help book, Unstuck At Last: Using Your Strengths to Get What You Want, is a well-written and thought-provoking guide for anyone who’s been wondering if that’s all there is. Her personal anecdotes and stories about her own journey transform this work from feeling like yet another self-help book into an interpersonal experience that’s more akin to working with a personal coaching guide. While I did not take the recommended Clifton StrengthsFinder Assessment before reading this book, I felt that the exercises at the end of each chapter and the discussions of strengths, values, feelings about change and challenges were quite illuminating and helpful. Robinson gives the reader a lot to think about and the tools necessary to jump-start getting unstuck. Unstuck At Last: Using Your Strengths to Get What You Want is recommended reading.
