Virtually Yours by Virginia Gray is a romantic comedy set during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic. Art conservator Sophie Longeway is extraordinarily paranoid about germs. But her paranoia becomes extreme after the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, forcing her to remain stuck in her apartment. Meanwhile, celebrity manager Jacob Rossi reels from the after-effects of his breakup with his fiancee, Savannah Reed, a Hollywood actress who he still dates according to the media. When Jacob takes his grandmother's ancestral rocking chair and hands it over to Sophie for repair, she reluctantly accepts the assignment due to a lack of funds. However, this marks the beginning of a burgeoning relationship that neither of them had foreseen. As Jacob's past continues to haunt him, he must be careful not to break Sophie's heart.
A heartwarming and hilarious romantic comedy, Virtually Yours signifies a new era of relationships during the pandemic mired in social distancing protocols and Zoom calls. Author Virginia Gray taps into the headspace of the everyday person, deftly portraying their insecurities and problems amid the global crisis. The plot is well-paced, and the narrative is a breeze to read through. The relationship between Sophie and Jacob serves as the bedrock of the story. Both Sophie and Jacob are likable protagonists, and you can't help but root for them to be together. Sophie's extreme germophobia and their disastrous attempts in intimate Zoom sessions make for some genuinely funny moments. If you're a fan of romantic comedies, you're going to love Virtually Yours.
