Author Biography

Anthony Pond was blessed with an insatiable curiosity. About the world, about life, about meaning. He follows that curiosity with courage and the conviction that he will prevail over difficulties. Armed with degrees in English, Journalism and Law, he has roamed the world seeking answers. On the way, he has scuba-dived, mountain climbed and tromped through steamy jungles, enjoying the freedom that was instilled in him while growing up.

He grew up around horses, dogs, goats and other animals, and developed a sense of responsibility that comes with caring for animals. Professionally, he practiced criminal law for over twenty years in Orange County, California, all the while continuing his many travels throughout the world. Photography has also been a passion. And recently, he returned to an earlier passion -- writing short stories.

He brings this experience, with his particular view on life, into his fictional stories of literary realism, complete with its tragedies and triumphs. He has published his first book, "Across The Border," a collection of short stories that draw on his early travels and experiences with life. A second collection, "Tarnished Dreams," has recently been published.

Although he hails from Southern California, Anthony Pond now lives in Portland, Oregon.

War Never Ends by Anthony Pond is a soldier’s story of their war. Sergeant David Jordan is in a French hospital, wounded during WWII. The morphine between surgeries has sent him back to the front, reliving his war, from the training camp in Florida to the English countryside, from France to a village where he relived his hell. But his dreams aren’t all about the war; some of them are about his youth and the dream of the boat he wants to build and sail when he gets home. For some, the war was over. For others, it never ends.

War Never Ends by Anthony Pond is a poignant story about one soldier’s experiences of war and his dreams of a future beyond the fighting. I’ve read Anthony’s work before, and he truly knows how to write a short story that grabs the reader’s attention and keeps them reading all the way through. This is a great story that details a soldier's life and experiences in the war, and the descriptions are such that you really feel like you are there, right in the middle of it. It’s historically accurate, and it’s clear much research was done, not just about the war, but about the medical treatment at the time, too. It’s the kind of story that teaches you more in a few pages than a whole heavy history book, and it will resonate with readers long after they finish it. Highly recommended reading, and it should maybe be included as part of school history lessons about WWII as well.
