Wealth Simplified: The Secrets of Everyday People Who Retire Richer, Happier, and Earlier by Robert Roby is a non-fiction finance guide from a professional with decades of experience and the tools to help readers find their footing outside the pitfalls of investment misinformation. Roby puts together a well-structured, relatable, and succinct book that is broken down into three distinct and interconnected sections: The Two Cauldrons of Toxicity, The Three Pushers of Hopeium™, and Professor Bob's Wealth Creation Workshops. Three sections is slightly deceptive as the sections themselves are packed with chapters that flesh out Roby's secrets with stories of real people in all manner of circumstance, how fear hampers practicality and reality, how to right the sinking investments and pension ships, how to harness a market that's crushed by all outward appearances, and how to make every inch of this work for the reader.
There is very little that most people would immediately think is simple when discussing wealth and investment strategy, yet Robert Roby shifts that myth by providing a relatable and easy-to-comprehend series of strategies in Wealth Simplified: The Secrets of Everyday People Who Retire Richer, Happier, and Earlier. There are those of us “of a certain age” who were kind of sandwiched between the near guarantee of a solid pension and safe retirement and the absolute nightmare that the Millennial generation thinks they are staring down the barrel at today. I'm there, feeling safe about not having to rub pennies together [and even enjoying some nice dinners out], but knowing that the travel we do now is likely to be scaled back when my husband decides to push his chair back into the desk one final time. Roby gives me hope. Honestly, I thought we were too old at this point to make any meaningful changes, but it turns out there is ALWAYS time. The first thing I've done is trim the fat off a portfolio heavy in over-diversified mutual funds, kept the ones in line with Roby's suggestions, and made moves that will be more beneficial. I did it in four hours. The point of telling you how long it took? There are no excuses when it comes to jumping on the wealth train and Roby is the perfect conductor to get us to the ultimate destination. All aboard, folks. Very highly recommended.
