Have you ever wondered what trucks love to do all day? What Trucks Love to Do by Kelly Riera answers that question with a big, bold, and bouncy celebration of all things truck! This playful picture book introduces children to a whole crew of hardworking vehicles—bulldozers, backhoes, cranes, and even recycling trucks—as they knock down walls, scoop up dirt, build new things, and clean up messes. Each truck has its own special job to do, and is explained using high-energy rhymes that are just as fun to read aloud as they are to hear. The illustrations are bright and expressive, making each vehicle feel alive with personality and purpose. Come on and join the trucks for a bit of adventure.
As an educator, I value books that combine fun with learning, and this one hits the mark. The rhyming structure supports early reading skills, while the truck-themed vocabulary introduces real-world concepts in a way that is exciting instead of hard to understand. I loved how the book subtly highlights teamwork and reminds kids that every job is important, even the ones that don’t seem like much fun. I can easily see this as a go-to classroom read, perfect for construction week or any day you want to get kids moving and thinking. There were even recycling trucks included in the story, which will help when there are discussions around what we all can do to help our planet. The illustrations by Gal Weizman are colorful and will keep children engaged. What Trucks Love to Do by Kelly Riera is a fun read, and it’s the kind of book that’s bound to become a storytime favorite—whether you’re reading it at home or in a busy classroom full of curious little minds.
