Where Are We Tomorrow? by Tavi Taylor Black is a literary fiction novel but can also be categorized as women’s fiction. The story follows the lives of women in rockstar Sadie Estrada’s touring staff. Alex was a tour electrician and enjoyed her job. At 36 years of age, Alex was happy and content. She thought nothing was missing from her life until she got pregnant. Wanting to savor every moment of it, she left her job and lived with her boyfriend, Connor. However, things took a terrible turn when she miscarried, and her long-term boyfriend was not ready to be a father again. So, she packed her bags once more and restarted her career. However, things were not the same anymore. When an accident occurred during a performance, the tour was halted. Alex, Lily, and a couple of other women from the crew rent a house in Tuscany, and that was the turning point both Alex and Lily needed to rejuvenate their lives!
Where Are We Tomorrow? is a fantastic story of finding yourself and understanding that sometimes change is all we need to give ourselves a chance to live. Alex’s character was very relatable. She was at a point in her life where she needed to feel alive and that came in the form of a pregnancy. Losing the baby changed her whole personality and made her look at what was more important. Lily, on the other hand, already knew what was wrong in her life and what she needed to know was how to change it. Having Alex by her side gave her the courage to take that action and distance herself from Sadie. The narrative was a tad slow at times, but the author compensated for that with beautifully developed and crafted characters. The descriptions were fantastic, the dialogues were fun, and the overall feel of the story was uplifting. It was nice reading a novel about a mature protagonist for a change. Very interesting and enjoyable! Well done, Tavi Taylor Black!
