Author Biography

One day an average girl named Louise decided she'd had quite enough of the characters parading around inside her head. It was way too crowded up there what with all the talking at all hours of the day and night. Shortly after her doctor confirmed she wasn't clinically insane, this girl charted a course of action. On that fateful day, an average girl made an innocent proclamation, to nobody in particular, "I am going to write a book." And so she did. Several of them, in fact. If you read them, she promises to be your best friend. And you should know she bakes homemade cookies for all her friends. Louise is proudly represented by Terrie Wolf at AKA Literary Agency. Chessie Madrid wants a sister. She wants to fall in love. She wants her father to pay for what he did. And most of all, she wants to live a long and happy life. But Chessie has a serious disease that has been threatening her life since she was sixteen and the doctor's predictions say that Chessie won't live too much longer, but that doesn't stop Chessie from living her life. When her list of desires starts coming true, Chessie must deal with a long lost sister she never knew about, her father who has been absent from her life, and a love interest, all while dealing with her deadly disease that is threatening to take her life.

"Wishless" by Louise Caiola is an amazing novel. From the personality of each character to the wonderful story line, I loved it all! There were moments when I would laugh out loud, and other moments where I would catch myself getting choked up. There is a perfect balance between the funny and light moments and the serious, heavy moments. The development of each character throughout the story is perfect. Chessie is such a strong character. She doesn't let her disease run her life. She learns strong life lessons, such as forgiveness. Chessie overcomes several obstacles in this novel, and she doesn't let them bring her down. A couple of times Chessie's weaknesses are shown, but that is what makes her so real. Louise Caiola has done a wonderful job of creating a novel that has a meaning. "Wishless" is witty, heartwarming, and last but not least, meaningful. A must read for all people!

A truly amazing book all the way through!!
