The night sky has served as a source of mystery and inspiration for millennia. The stars and the mysteries of space arouse everyone's curiosity and it is possible to cultivate an interest in astronomy at any age. Wonders of the Night Sky: Astronomy Starts with Just Looking Up is the perfect option to introduce the young to this fantastic world. Professor Ramon Prinja is head of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at University College London. He shares valuable information in a language that is easy to understand and in an entertaining way. He starts with the basics, explaining how to prepare to observe the night sky. Then he describes the different types of stars, constellations, and the solar system. At the conclusion, he includes a section with activities for children to reinforce what they have learned.

Wonders of the Night Sky is presented with care and attention to detail and I found it to be a great resource. It is perfect for teaching children a basic understanding of the universe and awakening their interest in science. Ramon Prinja displays his love for astronomy and his explanations are fascinating. The variety of topics that he handles in such a concise book is impressive. For example, when he discusses constellations, he includes facts from Greek mythology. He describes the moon, explains the phases and eclipses, points out craters, and shares additional information. The illustrations are fantastic and detailed, while at the same time, they are eye-catching. This book will awaken young readers' interest in astronomy.
