You May Curse the Bride by Bella Colby is the third book in The Wedding Witch cozy mystery series. Every spell Skye casts could lead witch hunters to her front door, but she is finally enjoying using her powers again. With help from her familiar, Wolfie, they have vanquished whatever threat has come their way. She can’t worry about potential trouble as she has a wedding to attend, but trouble quickly finds her when the body of a guest is found. Now she once again finds herself headfirst in a mystery as she scrambles to uncover the origins of a death threat and the purpose of a black veil. Only this time her ex-husband actually asks for her help. But will she be able to find answers when the only witnesses were too busy drinking to see anything, and another body could turn up at any second?
Skye is back with another adventure that proves magic never stops and the mysteries just keep coming. Another wedding throws her into another murder mystery, which comes with the fun twist of her ex-husband actually seeking out her sleuthing abilities. Wolfie continues to be a delightful scene stealer, proving why he’s the ideal best friend, sidekick, and guide. Plants create a unique backdrop for the mystery and the wedding, from the flower-filled setup to various ones in scenes. Skye’s world is full of charm, magic, and mystery, where anything is possible and never fails to bring a smile. The book quickly reacquaints you with her world, allowing you to easily step back in, even if it’s been a while since the last time you’ve visited. Bella Colby blends themes of witches, weddings, and cozy mysteries to create something heartwarming, suspenseful, and endearing. Part of this is the concept that magic comes with potential risks, as in previous installments, as witch hunters track her. This creates an interesting threat for Skye and Wolfie, who sometimes have to navigate being safe. You May Curse the Bride is a fun-filled continuation with a new wedding, troublesome guests, magical antics, and, of course, more of Wolfie.
